CLOUD ENGINEER
As a Cloud Engineer at VLI, you will design and own all operational aspects of VLI’s data pipelines and threat analysis systems.
Responsibilities
- Build and operate deployment automation, monitoring, and alerting
- Optimize infrastructure costs
- Ensure system reliability and security for both internal and on-premises production environments
Qualifications
Required
- 3+ years experience managing cloud-hosted infrastructure (AWS preferred)
- Strong background in Linux-based environments
- Strong understanding of networking and security practices
- Strong scripting skills
- Ability to obtain a DoD CAC
Preferred
- Experience using modern infrastructure-as-code tools, especially Terraform
- Experience deploying software in remote customer environments
- Experience provisioning and operating managed database services such as Amazon DocumentDB
SCALA & SPARK ENGINEER
As a Spark engineer at VLI, you will design, develop, and optimize Spark applications for big data processing at large scale.
Responsibilities
- Implement analytical algorithms in Spark
- Use Spark to transform and process network data
- Optimize and test Spark applications
- Deploy and monitor applications in customers’ environments
- Assist other teams in the design and development of Spark applications
Qualifications
Required
- At least 3 years of experience developing Spark applications in PySpark and/or Scala
- At least 2 years of experience programming in Scala
- Excellent skills in deploying and monitoring distributed applications
- Strong experience with Unix systems
- Ability to obtain a DoD CAC
Preferred

SOFTWARE ENGINEER, RESEARCH APPLICATIONS
As a Software Engineer at VLI, you will build services, data-processing systems, and tooling to serve our internal threat analysis systems, researchers, and customers.
Responsibilities
- Design and build customer-facing and internal APIs
- Collaborate directly with the research team to amplify and optimize their workflows
- Usher cutting-edge research projects from proof-of-concept to production
- Own infrastructure, automated deployment processes, and monitoring for the systems you build
Qualifications
Required
- 3+ years experience programming in Python
- 3+ years working within Linux-based production environments
- Strong understanding of operating systems and performance optimization
- Experience designing, building, and owning entire applications
- Strong software testing background and discipline

SOFTWARE ENGINEER, SYSTEMS ENGINEERING
As a Software Engineer on VLI’s Systems Engineering team, you will build tooling, libraries, applications, and services for our custom big-data platforms and technologies.
Responsibilities
- Implement customer-facing and internal projects and participate in their design
- Design efficient and tailored solutions by applying appropriate software engineering patterns and principles
- Adopt, understand, and propose relevant enhancements to our existing codebases and systems
- Deploy infrastructure, automation, and monitoring of systems and services
- Develop or leverage an understanding of adjacent technologies and their merits and demerits

THREAT ANALYST
The Cyber Threat Analyst position supports the Research team by applying their knowledge to mine, identify, track, and manage threat activity within in-house as well as industry-standard frameworks. A successful Cyber Threat Analyst will leverage an existing understanding of malicious criminal and nation-state Internet activities to “find the signal in the noise” within large volumes of grey space data made available to them. Additional expectations include coordination within internal teams, coordination across internal teams, and production of external deliverables. Competitive pay commensurate with experience.
